what I don't know, someone else does

Nearly two weeks ago, on a Wednesday, Dylan joined us for dinner. He doesn’t read my blog as often as I think he should and so, I make a point to force him to read it in my presence. That Wednesday was a particularly good night for him to read because I had just posted a little ditty that referenced him.

But first, I want to talk about dinner. Dylan joined us last minute, which is usually the case because rarely are any of us that organized. And to stretch our meal, we asked him to bring some sausage. This may sound rude but we have learned from experience that Dylan frequently goes all day without eating and then eats a lot. Like a shit ton a lot.

But this story is really about me, so let’s get to it. Dylan brought linked sausage but my pasta creation required ground. So, being the clever girl that I am, I broke right into those links and got what I wanted—ground sausage!

Truthfully, I am proud of myself for handling raw meat in such a manner. I am no cook and I am not fond of touching meat. I just wanted to brag about my personal kitchen victory.

Now back to Dylan. He knows why snow is white (we knew he would) and he wrote up this nifty explanation:

First of all, remember that white light represents all the colors in the visible spectrum. Your shirt is red because out of all the colors in the rainbow (white being all colors added together), your shirt absorbs every color except red. Therefore, red light is reflected off of your shirt and I see it with my eye. Snow is white because all of the light that hits it--light from the sun or a light bulb--is reflected. None is absorbed into the snow. This is due to the bulk properties of all the snow crystals combined. A single snow crystal is not white.

Even though I am only giving Dylan one paragraph, I am considering this my first guest post! Given that Dylan is so knowledgeable about color and his current efforts at the Boise WaterShed, maybe he can next explain why poop is brown.
