american potluck

So like I said yesterday, we had a big ol' party on Monday. There were 36 people in our little house! We think that is the most ever. But it was cool because it was an outside party and whatnot. As you can see by the overwhelming collages I've created, it was a good time.

There was lots of tasty food and some home brew made by Stephen and our friend Dave. Surprisingly, I didn't take any pictures of people eating. I must have been too busy hosting our biggest party ever! But I did take lots of pictures of the fireworks show. Clearly, it wasn't dark when we started lighting them off, but all the kiddos seemed to enjoy themselves. And maybe even some of the adults...

I pretty much forced everyone to grab a sparkler and make a big circle in the street. The only people excluded where those holding small, scared children and even then I asked more than once. The circle was about as cool as it looks.

And then the party pretty much died down. I guess people had to work and stuff the next day (not me!). But we had a few stragglers and Dylan finished off the fireworks.

I'd say, for the most part, the party went off without a hitch. Henry did burn three of his fingers on a sparkler. Fireman Daves told him to hold his hand up in the air. It seemed to do the trick. And it was our only catastrophe all evening. Well, at least it was the only injury--there was some crying over water guns.

Once it was finally dark, we walked down to our neighbor's house and watched their illegal fireworks display. We could also see the fireworks from the baseball stadium. All and all, it was a pretty awesome night.

I took nearly 400 pictures that night. You can view them all here, if you think that might tickle your fancy.

  1. It was a great party. The food was fantastic, the home brew was even better I hear. The kids had fun and the adults seemed pretty happy too. Thanks Hannah and Stephen for making it happen for all your friends and family.
