wyatt in the third

8:33 AM

Wyatt has been referring to himself in the third person for at least two months now. At first it was very infrequent. Not enough to bother anyone and still rare to enough to garner a laugh. But now he talks about himself as Wyatt all day long. Let me say it again for emphasis—all day long.

It probably wouldn’t be such an annoyance if he didn’t also speak in baby talk! That’s right, my five-year-old refers to himself as Wyatt using the most whinny baby voice ever.

Daddy throw Wyatt the bally.

Wyatt needs drink water.

Wyatt needs give Mommy hug.

Wyatt has skills.

I can’t stand it. I can’t! It’s most obnoxious thing ever. I have no idea why he does it. And it’s the baby voice that really gets to me. First, it’s just lame. And second, we can’t get him to stop. Reminding him not to speak in a baby voice doesn’t work. Pretending that we can’t hear baby talk doesn’t work. Yelling at him doesn’t work. Nothing works.

I am about to resort to baby talk myself. Before I start saying things like, Mommy no like Wyatt talk baby, are there any suggestions?!

In the mean time, please enjoy some legitimate baby talk (the camera is a little shaky, don't throw up).
