clean up on aisle nine

8:13 AM

So pretty exciting news - we're remodeling our back bathroom - which means I'll have another post about fixing up our house to share next week!

It started out as a weekend re-do on St. Patrick's day and quickly became an intensive never ending project. But I'll explain all that when I actually have pictures to share because this post is about one recent trip to the Home Depot.

We stopped by Home Depot on Saturday morning to pick up a gallon of paint and check out their cheapest laminate flooring. There's a Home Depot less than a mile from our house but we were shopping at the store clear across town because we'd been running some other errands out there.

We selected the loveliest blue/charcoal paint-and-primer-in-one and Henry asked to carry it. You can see where this is headed, right? Then he accidentally dropped it while we were looking wall texture options. And when he dropped it the whole effing thing exploded! And it exploded right on me! And some other lady who was sharing the aisle with us.

And damn, I wish I'd had my camera! It was such a mess! There was nothing left in the can. The floor was covered. My shoe, foot, and pant leg were covered. I left the store with one shoe in a bunch of paper towels and my jeans rolled up.

But we weren't done shopping so I visited two more flooring stores with one missing shoe! And no one said anything, although I know they all noticed that I was walking around with just one shoe on.

I took some pictures when we finally got home but by then it didn't look so bad. Luckily, my jeans already had paint on them and my $7 plastic shoes cleaned right up. No harm no foul.

I would like to add that the weekend before Wyatt broke a huge piece of tile at Lowe's. It must have been 2 ft by 2 ft. So there seems to be a pattern here, which means there must be a moral to this story.

Umm...the moral. Don't ever leave the house with your children. And if that is not possible for whatever reason, always take your camera with you because you never know what might happen!
