first christmas
4:59 AMHenry and Wyatt eat first breakfast and then second breakfast every morning. This has been our routine for at least three of the almost five years they have been in the world. Although it hasn’t always been called first breakfast, they started eating a snack before leaving for daycare every Tuesday and Thursday at 6.20 am with their dad at 18 months.
This has evolved into a 6:45 am wake time promptly followed by first breakfast. At our house this consists of banana bread and a glass of milk. At Nana and TomTom’s house, first breakfast is a fully fledged meal with sausage and eggs (overachievers). I believe it was Nana and TomTom that actually coined the term first breakfast. We just called it a morning snack.
Anyway, we were lucky enough to celebrate Christmas with the Crumrines on Saturday, or First Christmas, as Stephen put it. The boys received ski lessons at Bogus and rental equipment for the season from Grandma and Grandpa. Everyone was pretty excited to see their reactions, so I video recorded the entire event.

My memory is some what different than yours.
At our house the first morning meal is when I fix it.
It just so happens that Henry and Wyatt get up at the buttcrack of dawn like their Tom Tom. So we eat our first meal (first breakfast) together.
So this is the real story of second breakfast.
My own children and son in law love the sleep in when they stay at Nana and TomTom's. Usually because of their late night adventures. Many I can not talk about because of legal action that may follow.
When they awake some three or fours hours after the buttcrack of dawn they hope that TomTom will once again be an overachiever and a fresh hot breakfast will be prepared in their honor. I would say that if I were to prepare this meal when Wyatt or Henry were no where in sight I would call it Brunch
Your so called second breakfast in most circles would be brunch.
Perhaps next time I will serve Mimosas and you will know that it is really brunch at the club. TomTom's Club!
