i know it in my brain

Last night the boys and I made rice krispy treats. They love helping make things in the kitchen, especially baked goods. Granted, rice krispy treats aren't technically baked goods, but there is mixing and stirring and heating involved.

Although I had a recipe, Henry tried to tell me how to make them. It involved frosting and graham crackers. And even though he hadn't seen a recipe for rice krispy treats, he knew it in his brain that I needed to follow his instructions. I didn't.

About five minutes into our baking, the neighbor girl knocked on the door to play. The boys invited her in to help their mom make rice krispy treats. Wyatt asked if she thought she could make them. She thought she could because she had just helped her grandmother bake chocolate chip cookies. Wyatt agreed that baking cookies was similar to making rice krispy treats because you just mix the ingredients and stir. Seriously, he used the word similar. I am always impressed by just how articulate they are.

When it was finally time to serve up the treats I let them squirt some gross gel frosting stuff all over their rice krispy squares. They loved it!
