thankful

12:45 PM

This year we celebrated Thanksgiving in Twin Falls with Tom and Dana. It was a very low key event with just the six of us. Shortly after we showed up around 11 am, Tom spread out the hors d'oeuvres and we pretty much ate our way through the rest of the day right up to dinner at 5:30. Then we broke for about an hour and a half before Stephen served up his delicious pies. We also spent a great deal of time crafting and taking Christmas card photos, which happened to turn out super awesome!

But before we journeyed to Twin Falls, we had a small dinner party on Saturday night that I had meant to write about last week. Glenn and Stephanie were in town so we decided to cook up a baked pasta feast and invite over some other folks—Tia-D, Casey, Wes, and Melissa. Of course, Wes didn't even get a chance to take his jacket off before it was time for his beat down. It's a good thing he's such a willing participant because Henry and Wyatt love to tackle him. I think it was probably the highlight of their night.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I asked everyone to say what they were thankful for before we ate. I love these little moments but I never like to take them too seriously. Because I'd rather than laugh than cry any day, I said I was thankful that Stephen spends five days a week with the boys so I don't have to. I think he's a pretty all right guy, don't you?

I am also thankful for my friends and family.

I am thankful for two little boys who love to help and are kind.

I am thankful for Thanksgiving dinners that include extra-large turkeys purchased with leftovers in mind, butter with a side of mashed potatoes, and booze on ice.

And not to sound ungrateful, but I am not thankful for stuffing or gravy! Gross! Can someone tell my why these food items even exist?

Hope everyone else had an equally lovely holiday.
