So the boys and I are at our local neighborhood library and Wyatt is telling me something about a Richard Scarry story. He is telling which story was his favorite or something. Then all of a sudden he is going on about dancing peppers.

What are you talking about? I don’t remember any Richard Scarry stories about peppers. All the characters are animals, not produce.

No, Mom, I’m not talking about that anymore. I am talking about a video we watched with Dad  of naked guys wearing socks and singing.

Socks on just their…penises?

Yeah, that’s it. And they dance and they sing.

You've been watching music videos of the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

Yes, Mom! That’s what I said!

Of course, this was the funniest thing that either of the boys had ever seen. Wyatt went on to tell me that one of the peppers was named Flea, which was also funny to him. Apparently, Stephen is trying to lead the boys into a future of blood, sugar, sex, and magik. Which really isn’t surprising because honestly, who hasn’t wished, at least once, that they grew up to be a rock star?

This conversation happened months ago but Wyatt continues to be entertained by the thought of wearing just a sock. In fact, while we were driving back from Melon Valley, he declared that he had a surprise for us when we got home. And then he and Henry cracked up. Of course, they couldn’t keep it a secret even though Stephen and I told them we didn’t need to know the surprise. But Wyatt was going to get his guitar and go all out. You know, make it true to life or something.

When we finally got home he found the whole thing a little more difficult to pull together than I think he expected. And no one really cared anymore because we were tired from the day’s adventure.

I have to admit that although Anthony Kiedis is amazingly awesome, I won't be disappointed if Wyatt doesn’t follow in his footsteps. He already seems to be following in Stephen’s footsteps, which is rock star enough for me.
