new year's eve
8:29 AMSo we were up at the condo for New Year's. As I mentioned, this was our third year celebrating there, but not three years in a row. At any rate, this year we were joined by Jack and Dylan, Steeley and Sanja, and our buddy Erwin who is visiting from the Netherlands.
As always, I took a ton of photos and as always, you won't get to see most of them. It just seems inappropriate to post silly pictures (by silly I mean party) on a little family blog, although I spent days determined to share some of the funny faces folks started making as we neared midnight.
Instead, let's talk about the food. 'Cause God knows I love me some food! Our original plan was to snack on some of this and some of that all evening. Jack created a lovely cheese plate, although I didn't get any photos of it. Stephen served mussels in a cream sauce. This is one of my most favorite things in the whole world. We usually only eat it on New Year's Eve.
And then Steeley made lobster. It was to die for. It was also completely unexpected but obviously, very much enjoyed. I thought they were bringing up a big chunk of meat (which, of course, I would have been happy with too). Sanja put together an amazing salad, also unexpected, and so we all sat down to a very lovely and somewhat formal New Year's dinner around 10:30 pm.
Afterward, Dylan, Jack, and Erwin cleaned the kitchen, which just leaves a task for me. I ate. I ate very well. And I took some photos. See?

There was also a little dancing to Ike and Tina.

A lot of laughing.

Some nose picking.

Some voguing. And, oh look! There is Jack's cheese plate in the corner of the photo.

Some stop taking my picture, please.

And this. I'm not quite sure what this is. Maybe it should go under dancing.

I would also like to know why we all do this when someone sticks a camera in our face? Why?

Does anyone know why? Really? South side? West side? I feel pretty, oh so pretty?
Wait--I did post some silly pictures with funny faces. Oops! But it was such a lovely evening. I guess I couldn't help myself. And with all the celebrating you never would have known that there were two babies tucked in snugly in the upstairs bed--but there were!
So here's to a belated Happy New Year to you and yours! May 2012 bring you your own blown up gingerbread house and more!
