This is a ridiculously lame story, but I am going to tell it anyway because I like the pictures.

I was able to stay home from work on Henry and Wyatt's actual birthday. I had wanted to start the day off with a celebration and I suggested to Stephen that we take the boys out for breakfast. Stephen thought I was suggesting we just take them out to breakfast rather than have a birthday party. His confusion should have tipped me off that making a big deal out of going to breakfast was probably unnecessary and most likely confusing. But it didn't and I just continued on with my plan.

There is a newish restaurant in town that we have been talking about since it opened because of the name. Bacon. The restaurant is called Bacon. And who wouldn't want to eat at a restaurant called Bacon? I sure as heck wanted to eat there and so it was decided - by me. We would take the boys to breakfast at Bacon on their birthday. And then have a party, too.

Well, I thought it would be fun for the boys to wake up on their birthday and find a little clue about what the day entailed. So I found some gummy bacon at the candy store and arranged it on the kitchen counter the night before their birthday (because the kitchen counter is where I leave all gifts and surprises, duh). This was meant to be the clue. They were both meant to instantly know that we were going to breakfast at Bacon to celebrate their birthday.

But they didn't get it. And neither did Stephen. All three of them were utterly confused. Stephen thought the whole idea was particularly strange and completely unclear. And Henry didn't even want to go out to breakfast. He wanted to watch cartoons on PBS. My grand idea was a flop. A disaster. A waste of $5.59.



See, they are confused.



We did go to breakfast but not at Bacon. Stephen read some mediocre reviews about Bacon so we went to La Vie En Rose instead. They have good eggs benedict. Maybe the best ever! And the pictures are cute, right? And kind of gross, too.
