the hair situation

8:12 AM

You may have noticed that Henry and Wyatt have really goofy hair these days. Well, they cut it themselves way back in November. I posted some pictures of their handy work here, although I didn't bother to explain why.

It was a Saturday night. Stephen had just taken the boys to get their hair cut earlier that week. However, they didn't like their hair cuts. They thought their hair was still too long and in their eyes, which was true. But Stephen and I agree that we want long-haired babies, so they just needed to get over it.

But they didn't. And then they cut their bangs. Actually, they both cut big strips of hair right on the top of their heads. Think of it as an inverted mohawk.

A week later, the boys were in Twin Falls and Stephanie took them to get their hair cut (or fixed) in anticipation of Christmas photos. She emailed me this picture:

They look much better, trust me (and please ignore the chocolate milk mustaches), although you can see how thin both their bangs ended up - are they really bangs? I don't know what else to call them.

But once their hair started to grow again, they went back to looking pretty goofy. So toward the end of January Stephen decided to buzz their heads. Only he didn't tell me about his plan. I just happened upon this impromptu barber shop experience. And of course, I had to run for my camera. And of course, I had to start commenting and critiquing.

And then Wyatt didn't want to participate any longer so I had to tell Stephen that this was a stupid idea. And then Stephen and I had to get in fight about it. And then I didn't get very many pictures of Henry because I had to walk away.

So yeah, Henry and Wyatt have really goofy hair and there seems to no end in sight. They will most likely look goofy and slightly awkward well into the summer. Stephen has attempted to trim and clean up his butcher job a few times. It's not helping. Wyatt's hair is espeically messed up and Henry doesn't like how big his head looks with no hair.

Moral of the story: kids are a handful. Also - run away as fast as you can if you ever see Henry, Wyatt, or Stephen approaching you with any sort of hair cutting implement! Like really fast!
