twin tuesdays: memories
8:25 AMI've decided that one of the things I like best about this little series is the opportunity to share older photos. As in four or five years old.
Every Monday I search through photos of the boys from 2006 to the present. Unfortunately, I uploaded many of the photos I took directly to Snapfish rather than my computer, which means I can only access them through Snapfish. And I have yet to figure out how to get them all off Snapfish without copying each picture one at a time. Any suggestions?
Double unfortunately, most of the pictures I was taking just a few years ago are crap. I didn't have a fancy pants camera back then but worst of all, my composition is terrible. Just awful. I am disappointed that I didn't do a better job capturing just how beautiful those baby faces were.
But at least I have the photos to jar my memory because if I didn't, I wouldn't remember much. I have a craptastic memory. For instance, Stephen has known my social security number since he was 20. Let me remind you that Stephen and I didn't even start dating until we were 21. He just remembers things. I don't. And obviously, I have no idea what Stephen's social security number is. But it's not my fault - I once called Stephanie to ask her how I old I was!
I know this is going to be a real problem as the boys grow older. Just the other day they were asking me what their first words were. And you guessed, I don't know. I don't have a clue, which is so disappointing for them. I know that they both talk now and I know that Wyatt spoke first, but for the life of me, I can't remember what he said or exactly how old he was when he said it. Too bad I never bothered to write any of those moments down in a baby book or something.
My memory challenges are compounded by the fact that life with twins overwhelmed me that first year. I don't actually remember much of it - but we're all alive, right.
Do other parents of twins find it a challenge to remember those first moments? Do you confuse who said what? Were you clever enough to write any of those moments in a book?
And do your twins ask you to compare their first accomplishments? Mine do. Henry and Wyatt are very interested in who did what first. It seems a bit competitive and I don't know if I like that.

I am fairly certain that Henry walked at 11 months and that Wyatt walked at 13 months. Fairly certain. Okay, yes. I checked the properties on the videos. I was right. Yay for me!
