Henry and Wyatt had the their first sleepover. We  invited their friend Gus. Being that Gus is almost a whole year older than the boys and had done this before (oh, and they adore him), we thought Gus was a perfect candidate for a sleepover.

It was an exciting night! They made homemade pizza with Stephen.









They built a fort, with Stephen.





Then they watched a movie. And not just any movie. It was a big kid movie with real actors. Afterward, they got ready for bed and this is where the night got a little exciting. Apparently, Henry had heard that you tell ghost stories at sleepovers. So he told Gus and Wyatt that he saw a ghost shadow move across the living room. And then all freaked the eff out!

Gus started to cry. I let him call home thinking we had a 50/50 chance that he'd stay either way. Gus cried harder after talking to his dad. Ahh, but Stephen had an idea--he whipped out the air hockey table!





That kinda worked. It worked enough that Gus was willing to crawl into the fort and stay...after Stephen read them books, sang them songs, played the guitar, and pretended to fall asleep by them. Finally, they were all asleep at 11:15 pm.



But it was a long night. Wyatt woke up with a case of diarrhea around 2:35 am. This woke Gus up and so I laid next to the fort until I thought they were all asleep again. At one point Gus opend his eyes while I was peering at his little face trying to determine if he was going to last the night. When he rolled back over without seeming creeped out by my close proximity to his face, I figured we were good to go.

The next morning, Stephen made them the best pancakes ever. Seriously, the best ever!









Gus went home a few hours later. Although we had a few bumps, our first sleepover was quite a success. Thank God we all have Stephen to cook, build, play, and sing 'cuz you know it would have been a disaster had it just been me.
