commissioned

Do you have a best friend? You probably do. I do. Her name is Jameson.

I met Jameson on the first day of Rush, which was just about 15 years ago! This is beside the point, but for those of you who don't know, Rush is the week long process of joining a sorority. Yes, I've just publicly admitted to being a sorority girl! This admission always seems to shock people. I don't know why. I guess I don't give off that Greek system vibe but that's me - full of surprises!

Anyway, Jameson was polished and poised with her porcelain skin, manicured nails, and a big city girl perspective on life. I, on the other hand, hailed from a town with fewer than 38,000 people, was sporting tie-died knee-high socks, and had only just decided to start shaving my legs again. It was a classic tale of opposites attract.

We were never apart. People spoke our names like the twins in Lord of the Flies - Hannahnjameson. For the next three and a half years we were roommates, classmates, and coworkers (did I mention that we were inseparable?) until I ditched her for a boy! She was my maid of honor and if I weren't such a proud heathen she'd probably be a godmother, too. I love her dearly.

For as much as I love her, Jameson doesn't get a lot play here on Twinskin. She doesn't live in Idaho and she's a bit more private about life than I am. All the same, Jameson is an amazing and talented artist, among other things - her skills seem unlimited. I couldn't help but brag about her today.

I recently commissioned a painting from her. Stephen and I were over the moon when we finally received it in the mail all the way back in April! We're on a mission to fill our home with original artwork. If possible, we'd like to collect pieces from all the artsy fartsy folks we know.

The cool thing about the painting is that it covers the thermostat. I saw it on Pinterest. But the absolutely coolest thing about the painting is that Jameson painted it just for me! And now it hangs in my home.

The painting is chunky, thick, and textured. I know you're not supposed to touch art but I like to rub my fingers across it. The ability to paint amazes me. Have you ever heard of Touch Tours? I learned about them here. The thought of such a beautiful experience made me cry.
